On the Third Thursday of each month, the historic downtown Summerville district throws a party. Hutchinson Square, the park in the center of downtown, becomes an entertainment venue. The pedestrian mall area called Short Central hosts booths and musical entertainment. Local musicians are featured at several locations throughout the downtown. Little Main is closed to traffic.
Restaurants cater to shoppers and evening strollers with special offers and outdoor seating that allows their customers to enjoy our great weather as well as the outdoor entertainment. Arts and crafts enthusiasts have the opportunity to join classes in knitting, quilting, and jewelry-making instruction. There are antique shops, unique boutiques, and great restaurants to enjoy in downtown Summerville.
Summerville DREAM (Downtown Restoration, Enhancement and Management) sponsors the monthly celebration to create a lively community atmosphere and promote local businesses in historic South Carolina. It’s a perfect chance to acquaint yourself with the historic downtown area of Summerville in one lovely evening. Come join us every Third Thursday of the month in the center of downtown Summerville, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Rain or shine!
