we’re sharing buffalo lake with bats. yes, bats. no, they’re not cute. or cuddly. but they are vital to our ecosystem, as a natural way to address the pesky mosquitoes that love the lowcountry. (fyi: one bat can eat over 1,200 mosquitoes in one hour!) we think that for all that work, they deserve a nice place to sleep.

we’ve taken lake activities to a whole new level. a lot of summers corner events happen at buffalo lake … like yoga by the lake, plein-air painting classes and a father’s day family fishing event! see all upcoming events.

did you know?

  • buffalo lake is 95 acres in size … that’s equal to about 90 football fields!
  • ospreys like to fish in the pond, too. although they don’t use a rod.
  • some of the fish you can catch in buffalo lake are: largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish.

early in the morning is a great time to birdwatch.
