The Ashley River Park

11.11.2020

In 2015, Dorchester County Parks & Recreation staff asked for public feedback on the needs for recreation in Dorchester County. There was an overwhelming response that event spaces, multi-use green spaces, trails, fishing and waterway access were the top priorities.

To the rescue is the new 85-acre Ashley River Park. This unique green space on the banks of the Ashley River will offer something for everyone. The primary features are a large fishing pond with docks, a walkway and terraced lawn, located by the event pavilion and perennial garden.

There’s also a playground and tot lot with a splash pad, picnic shelter and restrooms, both a small and large dog park, miles of trails and a great lawn for picnicking and games. For the more adventurous, a ropes course, climbing wall and kayak launch that puts into the scenic Ashley River, round out the amazing amenities. Due to open in late summer of 2021, the Ashley River Park will be a wonderful park addition to our area!
